Our story continues one year later, Rani has returned from her first year of college and picks up L.C. after school one day. The two pick up at a local Dunkin’ Donuts.

“I’ll have one iced blueberry latte and a Boston creme donut.” Rani told the cashier. “I’ll have a Coollatta and a Strawberry Frosted donut.” L.C. told the cashier. The two then sat down at a nearby table to wait on their orders. “So how did the first year of college go?” L.C. asked. “I feel like I could of done better grade wise, but the first year of college kind of disappointed me.” Rani replied. L.C. had a sad look on her face, “Are you going to go back to UF?” she asked.

Rani shook her head yes, the server just brought their food to the table. “So Rani, there is this guy I really like but I don’t think he’ll ever notice me.” L.C. said. “Who is it? Do I know him?” Rani replied. “His name is Seater Sesame, he’s in my grade and he’s f*cking hot.” L.C. said with a giddy expression. Rani knew who L.C. was talking about, Seater was a pretty nice guy and she used to be friends with his older brother, Sam. “I know who it is, you should tell him next year that you like him.” she suggested as she sipped her latte.

L.C. thought about it while taking a bite of her frosted donut. She had noticed in class that Seater would glance at her every once in a while. Maybe he liked her back. “Rani, how do you tell a guy you like him?” she asked. Rani had to think because she had just told a guy a couple of weeks ago through a letter that she liked him; even though he let her down easy. “There are many ways you can do this: write a letter, tell him over the phone, etc. But the best way to do it is in person alone.” Rani replied with courage.

As the two continued the conversation, L.C. agreed to take affirmative action in showing her feelings towards Seater. The two friends finished up their snack and headed out of the shop. Rani drove L.C. to her home in Druid Hills, she always stayed until Rani entered the house safely. After Rani drove away, she thought about how lucky she was to have L.C. as a friend. Little did she know, that would be one of the last few times they would see each other.

To be continued.
