Rita Hayworth and Judy Garland: Similarities and Differences

I’ve been modeling my makeup after Rita Hayworth’s makeup and have been learning a little bit about her life and story. After awhile her story was very similar to that of actress Judy Garland, who ruled the screen in The Wizard of Oz (1939). Although they are two different people, they had a lot similarities in the way they lived their lives in the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Let us begin on where the two actresses are different:

Rita Hayworth:

1. Hayworth’s heritage is rooted in Hispanic and Irish cultures (Hutchinson, 2020).
2. Hayworth has two daughters: Rebecca Welles and Princess Yasmin Aga Khan.
3. Hayworth was born three years earlier than Garland.
4. Hayworth was Columbia Pictures leading lady.
5. Hayworth was notorious for her dancing, she was not a singer.
6. Hayworth was seen by Hollywood as a sex symbol during World War II (Hutchinson, 2020).
7. Hayworth passed away from Alzheimer’s in 1987, outliving Garland by eighteen years.
