Why life didn’t end at 14 for me…

Thought about writing this since we often write letters to our future selves, today I choose to write to my inner child.

Dear 14-year-old me,

Today is December 2nd, 2024 and you are aged 27 1/2. Bet you didn’t see that time jump. Here’s an update on the impacts you made and didn’t see at the time.

  1. You became a licensed professional counselor as of September 2024. Your experience has healed and inspired many people including your inner circle. You continue to serve people and advocate for them. You are truly a humanitarian.
  2. You are moving out of your parent’s home. You found a cute little apartment where you can start one of the better chapters of your lives. We all have a worst chapter of our life, and you will grow out of it. You will seek out new adventures.
  3. You have meaningful friendships and social connections. You are not the lies people have told you. You host and accept; you make people feel wanted just as you wanted to be and vice versa.
  4. You step out of your comfort zone. You continue to break barriers at 27 more than you ever did all because you turned tragedy into purpose. Your creativity gene serves you well.

5. You are successful, all your hard work is paying off and continues to pay off. Dedication and perseverance kept our motor running and continues. The rewards are emotional and financial as well.

6. You love yourself. You didn’t think you could, but you learned through various trials and tribulations. In turn, you attracted the right people into your life who value rather than envy/degrade you. Your relationship with yourself shines through.

Now you see that the future was unpredictable because it can only get better. Life is a journey and at 14, it was just the beginning not the end. I’m glad you are able to see the impact you made.

Sincerely

27-year-old me
